What is Kudu and how does it work?
Kudu is a hub where your cross-border professionals meet. It gives you the screens for your own wallet and address on the Stellar network, so you can send USDC and get paid. It also provides escrow contracts and group buying. Partners run their own services: MoneyGram for cash in and cash out, Mondial Relay and Colissimo for pickup points. Kudu names MoneyGram before it hands you over.
What does it cost to use Kudu?
Kudu pays the network deposit and fee for activating your account, subject to conditions. If Kudu cannot cover them, the setup is refused and nothing is charged. Kudu charges a fee on some actions, and MoneyGram charges its own fee for cash in and cash out. Each Kudu fee is shown before you confirm. Amounts in other currencies are an indication only.
How does an escrow contract work?
You and the other party sign a contract. The buyer locks USDC in it on the Stellar network. The contract releases the funds when its conditions are met. You choose a mediator, a third party who is not part of Kudu. Kudu never decides a dispute.
Can I add cash to my wallet and cash out my USDC?
Yes, through MoneyGram. You are taken to MoneyGram's page, and MoneyGram operates the cash service. To cash out, you send USDC from your wallet and collect cash at a MoneyGram counter. MoneyGram sets the cash amount. MoneyGram charges its own fee, Kudu charges a fee on some actions, and each fee is shown before you confirm. MoneyGram decides where it operates and lists those countries.
How do group buys work on Kudu?
Group buying is in a pilot. You join a group buy on a partner's site. Partners run group-buying sites on Kudu's engine, and your group buys are listed in the Kudu app with a link to the partner. Your payment is locked on the Stellar network until your claim opens or it is released to the organiser. The claim opens at least three days after the deadline, and months later when the seller declared a long delivery period. Kudu does not sell the goods.
