Pay and get paid where there is no network.

In the Kudu app, you can pay and get paid at a roadside stand, in a market, in a village shop or on a bus, with no network.

Offline payments are not open to everyone yet. Ask to join and we will write to you.

How it works

  1. Pay

While there is network, the payer sets an amount aside in the Kudu app. The app shows what leaves the payer's balance before the payer confirms. With no network, the payer scans the receiver's code and shows a receipt code.

The payer's phone shows the receipt code. The receiver scans it.
  2. Accept

The receiver types the price and shows a code. After the payer shows the receipt code, the receiver scans it, and the phone saves the receipt.

The receiver's phone saves the receipt.
  3. Back online

When the receiver's phone has network again, the Kudu app sends the receipt. It must send it before the time shown on the receipt.

The receiver's phone sends the receipt as soon as it has network.
